I have a electric bass part where I want to indicate a bass fill for several beats. What’s the best way to do this? Shift-X and type “bass fill”? Seems like there might be a more elegant solution that I’m missing.
If you just want text then that’s exactly what I would do.
But I would also put a Slash Region for the duration of the fill.

I was surprised not to find “fill” under ornaments or playing techniques.
Unless I’m mistaken, Ornaments and Playing Techniques all have some sort of playback effect;“Fill” doesn’t.
If you’re entering things via the popover it is no slower than either of those types of notation.
If you’d like to see it in Playing Techniques, you could just create a custom one that says Fill and assign it a useless Playback Technique (one that would have no audible effect). It could also have a continuation line as well.

i’d recommend making a playing technique for it and staring it so you can always come back to it. you can even give it a continuation line. Also remember that the spacing algorithms for playing techniques is better than plain text
