Best way to play files during live podcast recording?

Hi all,

I am looking for best practices on how to ‘insert’/‘play’ pre-recorded tracks when recording live.

In short, I want to be able to have people speaking live over pre-recorded, e.g., intro music that they can hear while the 4 of us are speaking live on a podcast. Do I need some DJ hardware? Is it possible for me just to hit command + V to insert a pre-recorded track?

Thank you all so much!

Where is Cubase in all of this ?
OS ?
OBX ?

Cubase LE AI Elements 9 with a UR 44.

I have previously ran an internet radio station, but didn’t find Cubase any use for this purpose. The amount of time it would take to insert tracks/fade in and out/jingles fade in/fade out, its counter intuitive. there are many software solutions for radio, Cubase is not ideal. Maybe use another computer and save the show into Cubase via a mixer…or just get some dedicated radio software?
