Best way to save midi files for library?

Hi

I want to make a drums midi library with loads of beats and fills for personal use. The purpose is to be able to access this file from within a running project so that I can select e.g. a drums fill and copy/paste or drag & drop it to the running project. But the running project should remain active at the same time so that I can listen to both the project and the midi stuff in the library. Is there a way to do this? It doesn’t work if I store the library as a project file, cause only 1 project can be activated at a time.

Save to a folder, set Mediabay to scan that folder, all files accessable from any project.
