Best way to solo a single track in C6.5?

The listen bus is great when you want to compare your mix in progress to a reference mix.
You can route the ref mix to “no bus” and just leave it unmuted all the time.
that avoids the mix bus compression/EQ contributed by the mix you’re developing.
A/B-ing is then just a matter of hitting the L button on the ref track.

Can someone try this for me please in the control room?
Select two tracks simultaneously, “L” one of them, then hit “Windows-L” to toggle between the two tracks?

Does it work that way?

Thanks!

AFAIK Windows-L = Lock desktop

That’s a good point. So one has to physically hit the “L” with the mouse then? , or maybe there is a keyboard shortcut within Cubase.

Reason I ask is I’m wondering if there is an equivalent of the technique I use to A/B toggle between two tracks in the project window using the “S” keyboard key to solo.

Yes, you can attach a key command to the mixer’s (L)isten button.

For A/B comparison CTRL + Click on L(isten) will have the same behavior as CTRL + Click on S(olo). I haven’t found key commands for this, but the last is easy to work around with the Project Logical Editor and a Macro or just activate “Enable solo on selected track” through a key command. (L)isten is harder because obviously the Project Logical Editor isn’t able to control the mixer.
