I’ve long thought that there should be an ability to turn Automation events and MIDI CC events into Parts. I’ve been hoping for this for a decade, I SWEAR I saw a feature request for it somewhere…
It’s much better workflow - moving, copy/paste, duplicating, skewing/modifying.
- It could incorporate Cubases ‘Shared Copy’ protocol.
- It could incorporate Cubases Automation skewing controls
- Automation Parts could be saved as presets to a library as shapes
- Presets could be saved with a variety of info, so users can search presets based on what that automation was controlling - ie, Save/Load Automation Parts by VSTi instrument.
- It allows users to create a vast custom library of automation shapes and starting points rather than always have to draw in/record new
- Automation Parts can be BPM sync’d so they always fit the project
- Automation Parts and Audio Events/MIDI Parts can be grouped together.
- Automation can be Written/Recorded to Parts in which Users can record over-dubs and then comp their automation (Record Lanes in Automation Lanes)
- Automation Parts could have their own integrated revisions system
Bitwig definitely beat Cubase to the punch…err… around the “curve” on this one.
