Bizarre midi playback issue

Hi all, I’m a little new to Nuendo/Cubase DAW and I’m hoping for some assistance with this bizarre, seemingly random issue which has appeared over the past few days.

When I make some change to a midi event on an instrument track, suddenly Nuendo plays back sound even where there is no midi event on the track. I find that if I freeze the track, then unfreeze it, deleting freeze files, the issue is removed (clue), but will re-appear again after a change to some other track’s midi event. I’ve checked there is no midi on lanes. The tracks contain bother East West Opus and Kontakt 7 instruments.

I’ve re-installed Nuendo with V13.0.50 build 318. Can anyone offer some ideas as to cause or resolution?

Many thanks in advance. My hardware specs below for reference,

Cheers

What midi channel is your midi input looking at? If it’s set to Omni change it to 1 or whatever channel you want. This might help.

Thanks for you suggestion which I tried. All were using Omni and I’ve now set each instrument group to it’s own channel, but made no difference.

I’m also running CPU load issues and audio dropout. I’ve replaced all Kontakt with Opus which helped a bit. Also muted the MP4 film I’m working with and that helped reduce CPU load more, but still the @#$%^ playback issue.

I’ve removed Nuendo and reinstalled Cubase but that seems even worse!!

It’s driving me nuts

Thanks for your suggestion, anyway…anything else to try?

Is your buffer set to at least 512? What happens when you remove the mp4 completely from your session?

Delayed update to this issue…it turns out to be CPU load. I reduced the resolution of the film I had loaded which helped a lot, and a new computer has resolved the issue.
