Black out part of video feed

Here comes a very specific request but I figured I’d put it in here anyway. I’d like to be able to black out part of the video feed. The application in my case is that I need to sometimes take out part of the video as to not blind the drummer when the projector we’re using is mounted a bit low and/or is far away from the stage. We’re currently using Resolume on a 2nd computer but it’s cumbersome and I’d like to have a more simple solution. If there was some sort of overlay that could be added in VSTL, that would be fantastic.

What does this mean exactly? Explain how you would like it to work. I feel like it already does this, but I may be misunderstanding you

I understand as I have experience with Resolume Arena. There it’s called masking, found in the Advanced output. It’s handy, really handy… you can draw multi-point shapes, etc…
But Resolume is exactly for that purpose and costs 799EUR/computer

for sure, I would welcome in later iterations of VL too (beside of DMX dimmers (ch + master )

You can add a video track (above video) and put an image there.
Note that VST Live treats pure black (rgb 0,0,0) as transparent.

It’s a possibility if you know exactly the spot that needs to be blacked out, which is never the case in my scenario. I’d also need to put a separate overlay track for each song.

Btw no, because Global Media Player is there

Already suggested to fklamus a camera which spots the difference between projected and captured image, and automagically masks difference areas. Too far out for VST Live, but maybe some other tool can do that?
