Blending two tracks into one

Hi,

I have two tracks with audio vocals. I kept making new takes on track one and then track two, and selected the best ones, deleting the unused. So now I have two tracks, when played together its fine, (no overlaps).

Is there an easy way to blend the audio from both tracks and also fill gaps with silence?

My goal is to have one audio event on one track to keep my adjustments even and keep things clean.

Just mixdown the two tracks and make the destination a result track.

That reminds me of the old days when bouncing tracks was not an option or choice but a necessary step to get on with the project. Mental notice for me: not a bad thing to commit on an early stage!
