Blocklist going nuts

So yesterday I upgraded to Absolute 7 from 6, and installed the stuff I wanted. Opened Cubase and nothing was there.

I checked the blocklist and it was full of plugins that I normally use fine. Also, the new Groove Agent versions were in there. So why has Cubase suddenely gone nuts and started blocking plugins that were already on the allow list. And i’ve reactivated most but some are not re-installing.

Did you activate Absolute 7 in the Activation Manager?

Yeah, it all works fine too, but loads got put in the blacklist , some reactivated, others didn’t. Was out the blue tbh.

In the comment section of the blacklist just says unknown.

Are you on Windows and have by chance Ransomware Protection enabled?

Windows yes, and just standard ransomware stuff. But that’s all been running for years, never done this before.

I had some issues with GrooveAgent when I installed C15 and a GA update, it would hang in the vstscanner process and I had to kill that, and of course that meant blocklist.

I then remembered that I had Windows Ransomware protection enabled, and GrooveAgent somehow wants to access/write to your documents folder. After I added an exclusion for the vstscanner executable, GA passed the scan without problems.

So even if everything has been running for years, with new updates some things may change…
