Maybe try the free trial of Dorico 6 to see if it works with that version. The only other thing(s) I can think of is that another app is using the audio resources and is blocking Dorico, or that something else is wrong with your setup that has been overlooked.

Actually, I just tried with Dorico 5 and the JBL Go 3 and it does work flawlessly with me…

I have had this happen inadvertently on my Mac Studio. Before switching to an audio cable, I used an external Bluetooth device to connect to my old Bose Home Theatre G3 system. Once, I also connected to the BT device with my phone to play a song attached to a friend’s text. I forgot to disconnect the phone and I couldn’t figure out why my Mac Studio sound wouldn’t come through the BT connection. When I recalled the connection to the phone and deleted that BT connection, my Mac played fine via BT.
So, @twiprud, if you have more than your Macbook Air connected to the speakers, you might want to disable the other connection(s), reboot the speaker and try again.
Thanks, kasky1. The weird thing is it’s not my mac that’s not reaching the BT speaker – any given sound on my laptop comes out of the BT speaker, whether from safari or from Music or alert beeps. Dorico is the only thing on my laptop that doesnt go through. Now maybe you’e suggesting that Safari and Music etc., on the same laptop, are blocking Dorico? II just tried closing both Safari and QuickTime, the only apps that might use the JBL, after pairing the JBL with the laptop. The JBL still doesn’t appear among available outputs in Dorico, though the mac shows connection. And Dorico of course still doesn’t sound through the JBL.
Am I missing your point?
I appreciate everyone’s input on this, but I’m ready to call it a day and just export anything I want to play to mp3.
No, you’re not missing anything. I was grasping at straws trying to assist. Oh, well. I hope you do find a solution beyond exporting mp3 files!
I have been using various Bluetooth audio devices on my M2 Mac with Dorico quite consistently without any issues. I usually make sure they are paired and the active sound device before starting Dorico. IIRC in the past Dorico (version 5 ?) would not recognize audio devices which were not connected at startup. This seems to have been addressed in version 6, though.
Mein Gott, Marcus-de, you have solved my problem! If I close Dorico before pairing with the BT speaker, then reopen Dorico, the BT speaker will appear among options in Device Setup, and hey presto, Dorico is playing via BT speaker. I felt sure it was a simple fix, and you nailed it. Many thanks.
