When I am setting liturgical music I make the response bold one syllable at a time. Surely I am missing a way to bold a series of syllables. Thanks.

You could create a new paragraph style with bold letters. (Library menu). Once your lyrics are entered, select the ones you want to be bold. (I find dragging a box around them works fast). Then go to properties and change the paragraph style to the new one.
