Bookmarks, Recents, Volumes and System in Save As dialog

A great productivity improvement would be a custom Save As dialog. Probably discussed before but thought I’d bring it up again. I have to work with multiple projects simultaneously in different locations so the default windows dialog is slow to work with.

Blender does this perfectly, here’s an example from the web to protect the innocent. Most of the time I use the recent history list at the bottom, and Favorites.

Does Windows really not have Recents and Favourites easily accessible in its standard file dialog?

I can’t see anything there that’s missing from the Mac’s standard file dialog.

Personally I always find it jarring, unfamiliar and unnecessary when an app decides to make its own.

Depending on the framework used like .NET there’s a couple of ridiculously easy to use standard dialogs that are minimal - this looks like one of them AFAIK. I don’t find it jarring at all to get a custom dialog and it’s far from unnecessary IMO, it’s rather normal practice in Windows and a productivity gain. So annoying to hunt around. By contrast I find Apple’s approach to be troublesome so in part its probably due to what you’re used to.

A Hub is just a save as in reverse and you don’t find that an issue, due you? They’re always custom. The Dorico, Nuendo and Wavelab hubs are very helpful.
