Bought new Mac, now Cubase won't work on old machine

Hi,

I bought a new Mac with Sonoma so had to upgrade my Cubase to Artist 13 from Artist 9.5.

I managed to update the eLicense but didn’t realise it would shut me out of my old login on my old machine. I was under the impression I could have multiple machines use Cubase, just not simultaneously.

I still have various unfinished projects on my old machine that I would like to port over and some plugins no longer work, so I’d like to export some tracks to move over to 13.

When I plug the eLicenser into my old Mac, it now says “No valid license found the program will quit now.”

Options to start activation or ok.

When I start it says

"Application LCC2 has caused the following error

Application ‘synsopos.app’ could not be started. Probably the file is corrupted or incompatible or file access permissions are set incorrectly."

Then I have to abort. Please help! I had a ticket going with Steinberg support but they’ve stopped emailing me back (last email sent to them 12 days ago).

Cheers!

Hi and welcome to the forum,

Cubase Artist license is using USB-eLicenser. You can plug the USB-eLicenser into any of your computers and start Cubase.

If you updated your license on the USB-eLicenser, there is a new Cubase Artist 11 (Updated to the new licensing system) license. This license is unknown for the old eLicenser Control Center, which you have probably installed on your system.

Please, update the eLicenser Control System on the old computer to the latest version, or at least update the License Database.

So I just tried that and the control setup is now saying (on the old machine):

A more recent version of the licenser control software (version 6.10.4.1203) is already installed on this computer, therefore installation is not necessary and is skipped.

I then continue to maintenance and am told again, that the licenser control software is too old.

Step 5 Recovering License Transactions then fails.

Im then stuck in a loop offend is outdated and needs to be updated and when I click to do that it says the ELC is too old…

Hi,

Update the License Database, please. On the support page, you can find even a manual way, of the automatic doesn’t work.

That did the trick, thank so much!
