I set my locators - whatever the grey bar is called…and I’ve noticed that Cubase isn’t following it. It’s like it’s adding 4 seconds on the front and more at the back. Is there some bounce pre roll thing or something I don’t know about?
Are you talking about Audio/Bounce Selection or Render in Place?
The latter comes with the option to add time at the end of the selection so that effects like reverb tails are not cut off.
Audio Bounce…I work in Pro Tools, but started on Cubase years ago. Got 14 and thought I’d give it a shot. It’s cool - but since I haven’t used it in a long time, I’m swimming a bit.
It might take some time to know Cubase like you know Pro Tools but it is definitely worth it!
Bounce Selection refers to selected (highlighted) events on a track and not necessarily to the cycle that has been set with locators. If you want to bounce a specific area in between two locators you can do this with the Mixdown dialogue which you find under File.
