I have not been able to “bounce in place” without cubase freezing for the past two years. Literally every single time it crashes and I need to restart my computer completely. Just freezes. This has happened with both C13 and 14. Why? please fix it Steinberg, this sucks. And nah, i dont wanna render in place as a workaround.
This doesn’t seem like normal behavior, and I have never encountered it here.
It could be a plugin, the audio interface driver, hardware problems, and a lot more.
You might need to provide a lot more information about your system, when the error occurs, if it occurs in every project, even in a completely new empty one with just one track and so one.
Have you tried starting Cubase in safe mode with preferences and third party plugins disabled?
I would start with ruling out the preferences.
