If an event is muted (nb. and there are crossfades between the events in the selection) then ‘bounce selection’ will not behave as it should and the audio from the bounced event will not be in its proper place.
Curiously, this does not happen if there are no fades between the events. This only started in C15, as far as I remember.
It is frustrating when editing lots of vocals or drum multitracks etc.
Result = bounced event length stays the same, there is silence where the muted event was, all audio is still in the position it was before bouncing. Behaves as expected.
‘Bounce Selection’ results in an event that is the same length as the selection, but unfortunately the audio from event three (blue event) has been shifted ahead in time by the length of the muted event. This is not operating as it should be.
Yes, I can confirm the same behavior on my system. And somewhere in the back of my head a little bell rings that this issue was discussed before on the this forum.
I can confirm the behavior also, but just a thought : maybe it can be considered as a ‘feature’. Said differently : the crossfade is a kind of link between two audio events and Cubase, ‘seeing’ that the second event to the link is to not be heard, takes the next ‘linked’ event at disposal and associate it with the first one. Just saying this as a supposition…
Beside this, it seems that Cubase behavior changes, according to the Preferences > Editing > Audio > Treat Muted Audio Events like Deleted option. On my end, If unticked, the behavior is reproduced as reported, but if ticked, I get what you are probably looking for : an event in which all the audio stays at the right place, silence replacing the second audio original event.
I will try your preference suggestion @cubic13 though I suspect that while it will correct this behaviour it may also introduce some unwanted behaviours.
As another workaround I could also program a macro and include something like ‘delete muted events within selection’ as a primary step before ‘bounce selection’.
