Bracket/brace on single staff?

I’m transcribing a work for English horn, winds, and double bass. The woodwind and brass families all group as expected, with brackets and braces. However, the English horn (which, as a solo instrument, is not part of the woodwind group), and the double bass both appear as single staves without braces or brackets. I tried making each of the two single staves into its own group, but that didn’t give them brackets or braces.

Is there a way to give each of those staves its own brace or bracket yet?

Sure, you should find that setting ‘Bracketed groups with only one instrument’ to ‘Use bracket’ on the Brackets and Braces page of Engraving Options does the trick.

This is exactly what I need. I am unable to see this option anywhere in Dorico 3.5.12. Has it been removed, and if so, what to do?

I think Daniel meant Layout Options.

The Brackets and Braces page was originally in Engraving Options, but moved to Layout Options around v3, I believe, to allow flexibility on ensemble approach on a per-layout rather than per-project basis.
