Now I am, trying to bracket the piano part with the rest of the rhythm section, but in the engraving options, this seems to be a no go. As you can see, I made the left-hand part hidden. I watched the video on this but , I can’t get this to happen. I tried making the left-hand part visible, but that does not seem to help.

Since there are places where I want the left-hand part to play something, I can’t do remove the staff unless there were a way to show the left-hand part when needed. This seems complicated. So I suppose to bracket piano I either need to have the left-hand staff present all the time or find a work-around if I only use the one staff, is this correct?
SO I did delete the staff and placed the notes in RH, LH.

OK, but you can get the staff back by right-clicking->Staff->Add Staff Below.

Yes but won’t I lose the bracketing of the rhythm section, or can I just locally add a staff as you seem to suggest.

If you are only using one staff at a time, just change the clef. I would expect the player to use the most convenient hand for the low notes just as he or she would use the right hand for the higher notes.

Thank you; that is what I did and it solved the bracket problem.
It seems that this is the easiest solution, but I bet there are more workarounds one might explore.
