i’m after creating a bracketed notehead, and i can’t find a way of doing this.
the specific context - i’d like double-basses to play a low “d” (on extension), but i’m aware some players might not have extensions.
i’d like to bracket a “d” the octave above, to show it’s optional if the players don’t have an extension.
please let me know if this is possible.

You might delve into custom notehead sets and such, but for the purpose of a few occational brackets you can just use staff text (shift-x) and position it in Engrave mode…

that’ll save me a lot of time.
that being said,
might you know a way of getting it centred with another note?
