Bravura font not installed message

I am not sure how I messed up my chord symbols to the point where I could not get rid of them but I think at this specific point in the video I think David is talking about how another user may have done that by inadvertently overwriting DORICO’s defaults:

I WAS able to get my chord symbols looking the way I wanted them but they were still in the panels. I think the critical step that I performed was the one that was recommended to me by the Steinberg associate to rename the DORICO 6 folder as I am guessing that is where all the user customization is. Right now my chord symbols are truly GONE which is what I wanted. I went through ALL my projects and they are gone from the panels. Now when I start a NEW project I do not have to go through the resetting of chord symbols because now they are truly gone.

No, he’s talking about someone who has defined user defaults which override Dorico’s defaults. I wouldn’t call this either inadvertent or overwriting.

To be honest I am not really sure what I did to get into this mess but at least the outcome is satisfactory. What I plan to do from here on in is start fresh with EVERY NEW PROJECT. Reset EVERYTHING back to DORICO defaults via the Library Manager and comparing to Factory Settings. Then just change ONLY what I need and nothing else. I think it will be easier and I do not mind going through a few extra steps. I am not a ‘power user’. I am just a performing musician who makes lead sheets, transcriptions, etc. At this point I have gotten pretty good at DORICO even if I am not an expert.

Changes you make inside a project are local to that project – unless you explicitly press one of the Save as Default buttons. So if you have already blown away all of your previous user customizations (by renaming the user settings folder), then every new project will start with Dorico factory defaults, no comparison necessary.

I think I understand. I personally do not want to save as default anymore because every project is different: different song forms, etc. I think it is easier for me to start off fresh with DORICO defaults and take it from there. Making custom chord symbols was a big mistake, it was completely unnecessary for my projects. I made them because at the time I did not understand about chord symbol presets and how to change the font sizes. But I cannot use the same font sizes for every project because depending upon how complex the melody is the score will look to cramped. At this point I think I have a fairly good grasp on this even though I am by no means an expert but I think my scores look very good. Once again, I would like to express my appreciation to everyone who responded and helped me on this, much appreciated!

You could save each set up as a different project template.
and/or
Use the Library manager to transfer settings from file to file.

Thanks for the tip! DORICO project templates sound like a feature that may be convenient if I have very similar projects. Something to consider! Thanks!
