Break left ossia bar line?

How does one make the left bar line dashed like the rest of the ossia bar lines?

If this is not possible in Dorico, I would suggest it as a feature request.

A dashed left bar line is a standard way to engrave ossias:

And while a solid left bar line is also used for ossias, I think it illogical, because a solid left bar line joins different instruments together playing in ensemble. Therefore, I will need to come up with a work-around for this. Does anyone know of a workaround within Dorico?

One possible workaround would be to create a thick dashed line body with shorter dashes and longer gaps, and then create a custom line using this line body. Wherever you want to change part of the systemic barline to a dashed barline, add an instance of the custom line, move it in engrave mode so the dashes in the custom line will become the gaps in the systemic barline, and change the line color to white:

Might use a coordination line also @johnkprice

I like the idea of using a coordination line since you can specify the use of a custom vertical line body in the engraving options.

Exactly.

Thank you @johnkprice and @jesele Those are great suggestions, and I will try them later. Much appreciated!

I tried using the coordination line and it works perfectly. Thanks again for the great suggestions!
