Hi, can someone help guide me through the process of moving some bars down on the same page? If I try the “,” or “.” method the breaks jump to the next page. It seems to me that there is plenty of space on the first page to simply move a few measures down. My goal is to keep the project to a single-page lead sheet. Thanks for any ideas!
The fact that systems have collisions on an apparently not full page suggests you’ve manually overridden vertical spacing.
Perhaps reset staff spacing on this page via the Engrave menu to get back to defaults.
Use Layout Options > Vertical Spacing to adjust staff spacing at a top level, including the threshold for automatic vertical justification (spreading out across the full height of the page).
Hi Lillie - I did a “reset” in the layout, but unfortunately no help. I did tinker with the spacing a bit and here is where I am. I still have no luck in moving the last line from Pg. 2 to Pg. 1. I am attaching the project as a reference.

Somewhat confusingly, there are a few different places where you can do a “Reset Layout” in Engrave mode.
To get this project back to a “default” state, you should do both Engrave > Format Music Frames > Reset Layout, which will remove all of those system breaks (same as the Reset Layout button in the left panel) and Engrave > Staff Spacing > Reset Layout, which will undo any manual vertical spacing changes.
After that, I used the Page Template editor to make the music frame on the first page a little taller, and then I went to Layout Options > Vertical Spacing > Ideal Gaps and changed the Inter-system gap to 8 spaces (from 10). This gets everything onto one page, with no manual adjustments.
If the vertical spacing seems a little tight to you, you could try making the space size a little smaller (in Finale terms, reducing the system scaling), in Layout Options > Page Setup > Space Size. If there’s just one flow in this project, do you need the flow heading? If not, you can turn that off in Layout Options > Page Setup > Flows > Show flow headings, and that will get you a little more vertical space.

Moving staves/systems up and down in Engrave mode will never prompt systems to move back/forward a page. The Staff Spacing tool in Engrave mode is for adjusting staves/systems once they’re on the page.
The staff spacing resets I was talking about are described here for individual handles, and in the tip for larger-scale resets.
Try to use Layout Options for Vertical Spacing settings first, before nudging staves/systems around!
Wow - what can I say but … Thank you Lillie_Harris & asherber for the thoughtful responses and assistance. It seems like a simple thing and I now understand the process.
grazie molto

So, perhaps give @asherber or @Lillie_Harris most helpful answer the solution?

Hi Jesele - I did tag as “Solution” not sure how to tag as “most helpful”?

Perfect. I meant the answer that you found most helpful.
