Brevis - Doppelganze im 4/4 Takt eingeben - Alte Musik

Wie kann man in einem 4/4 Takt im Schlusstakt eine Doppelganze bzw. eine Brevis einfügen, wie es oft in alter Musik notiert wird?

Hi Bernhard,

Welcome to the forum.

I think you can enter a 4/2 Time Signature in the last bar, and hide it.

Then you can just enter the Breve

Semi-breve (whole note) in a 2/2 measure?

For a breve/double-whole note, one needs a 4/2 time signature (hidden or not).

Thanks Derrek, I’ve corrected my post

If the TS has to be a real 4/4 in the other staves, you can use a tuplet, e.g. 2:1w

You amaze me everytime with those tuplets

Hadn’t thought about the other stave. I guess a local time signature would be another possible solution.

Those early musicians really needed to learn to count! :smiling_face_with_horns:

I just transcribed this a few days ago.

It becomes funny if there are even longer note durations across barlines.

The Romantics are pretty good in that regard
