Bug (critical): transpose configuration shown but ignored by sound creation

Dear VST Live-Team,

by preparing myself via VST live for a new band I found a bug which is from my point of view really critical and causes a serious problem.

I configured a song in VST live with multiple instruments (layer). All instruments have a transpose setting (+2) and this configuration is correctly shown in the screen within VST LIVE.

But if I play the sounds on the keyboard I can hear that VST LIVE seems to ignore for 1 sound the transpose settings. But from configuration point this should / could not be the case.

Last time when I opened this song in VST Live this issue was not existing and the sound was correctly produced by VST LIVE.

I already created a video which easiy shows that VST live is not correctly processing all transpose settings. For 1 sound the settings are not used.

If I copy this song in VST LIVE and try to play the song then I can hear very fast that in this new song (duplicate) further settings are ignored. For example 2 vibe sounds which are using the same VST instrument and have 1 octave difference (config at VST live) on the same zone (keyboard area) you can hear with the first sound that the different is not 1 octave because it sounds disharmonic. That meany by coping further configuration settings are getting ignored.

If I move VST live on a second screen and click on menu “help", about” the layout which should show the version of VST live seems to be displayed in a different screenlayout which seems not to be correct. (low priority).

If try to deactivate “solo” settings for a specific sound then it switches automatically to mute. If I try to deactivate mute it switches back to “solo”. It seems that it is not possible to deactivate “solo” nor “mute”.

For me the issue 1 is most critical and unfortunately I do not know how to reproduce.
If you like I could provide you my VST file in a private chat.

To make the analysis of this issues easier I created 4 short videos which show you the screen configuration (screenshots) and let you hear what I mean with ignorerd configuration / incorrect sound creation:

It would be great if you please could help to analyze this topic.

Again many thanks for your great work for this great product I really love!

Kind regards

Sam

Seems that another user has a similar problem:
Some Layers are suddenly detuned - VST Live - Steinberg Forums

Workaround: I deleted the layer with the detune-issue.
But I have fears when it will happen again at which sound / layer?
It would be great to know how the issue could be reproduced / prevented.

Are there any other user which had a similar problem?

Are there any other user which recognized that specific layers sound is played detuned but they worked last week and the configuration is absolutely correct?

If yes, would be great if we could collect input from other users. I have documented cases were VST live ignores transpose configurations for selected layers.

This makes me personally nervous…

It would be good if there was a repro sequence.

Thank you Musicullum for your feedback.

I assume your feedback is only related to topic 1 I mentioned above, correct?
I will check it carefully and give seperate feedback to you lateron.

Did you also had time to look at following 2 additional issues I mentioned above?
topic 2 (copy and past iisue)
topic 4 (mute / solo cannot be deactivated)

I created for all 4 topic short videos for you to make it easier to follow.

For me topic 2 is an reproducable software bug from my point of view. Because I copied a song and after pasting it as a new song not all sounds / layer could be played as it was possible in the initial song (you can hear it clearly in the vidwo). To give you the chance to reproduce it on your side I provided my private VST file to Spork for steinberg internal analysis. It would be great if you could use this example file for a quick analysis. I am using nearly 100% Steinberg VSTs (Absolute 7). Therefor it should be easy for you / your team to analyze.

Again 1000 thanks for the great work you and your team are doing with VST live!

Kind regards

Sam

We banged up against this yesterday:

If you solo/mute a Group channel in the mixer (e.g. the Song Group) then the solo/mute setting is cascaded to everything it contains. If you then go to one of the affected items and try to change its solo/ mute VSTL gets “confused”.

I would much rather see the mixer behave like a hardware mixer in this respect.

There are multiple items in this one thread, please create one thread for each item, otherwise some may get lost.

As for Solo/Mute a Group: for Mute, that may be true (sufficient to mute a Group, for instance) but not for Solo; the Groups’ “children” need to stay unmuted - and that is true for a hardware mixer as well, no?

Cannot reproduce 1.

Could you send a project where a Layer does not transpose as it displays? Just a .vlprj file, thanks.

will check, sorry. Again, it is confusing and leads to issues missed on our side if multiple issues are packed in one thread, thanks for understanding.
