[Bug] Cubase 15 Pro On-Screen Keyboard: Key Mapping Offset & Key Command Conflicts (macOS)

Greetings,

I am writing to report a couple of issues I encountered while using the On-Screen Keyboard in Cubase 15 Pro on macOS Tahoe (version 26.6.2). My system language and physical keyboard layout are both strictly set to U.S. English.

Issue 1: Key Mapping Offset and Unresponsive Keys

  • Symptoms: When the On-Screen Keyboard is active, pressing the semicolon (;) key triggers an ‘E’ note instead of ‘E-flat’ (Eb). Additionally, the forward slash (/) key is completely unresponsive (dead key). It seems like the key mapping or scan code recognition is shifted.

Issue 2: Key Commands Overriding On-Screen Keyboard Input

  • Symptoms: I have assigned the letter ‘C’ as a Key Command for the ‘Cycle’ function. When the On-Screen Keyboard is active, pressing the ‘C’ key should trigger a note (E note on the lower layout). However, Cubase prioritizes the global Key Command, executing the Cycle function instead of playing the note.
  • Note: Usually, the On-Screen Keyboard should intercept single-key inputs while active, but it fails to block global Key Commands in this version.

System Environment:

  • OS: macOS Tahoe 26.6.2 (English) M5MAX Macbook Pro
  • DAW: Cubase Pro 15.0.30
  • Keyboard Layout: U.S. English (Hardware & Software)

Could anyone confirm if this is a known bug in Cubase 15, or if there is a workaround for this mapping offset? Any help or feedback from the development team would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time and assistance!

Best regards,

Mask & Revelation

Issue 1: I don’t see that here (testing on Win)

Issue 2: Yes I can confirm that is happening here, too. I am trying to think if that would be helpful.

I noticed that using alt or ctrl modifiers (such as ctrl-c) when OSK is active plays the note, but I would expect it to use the modifier command, not play the note.

When OSK is on I had wanted to use ctrl-z and ctrl-x to use when recording takes so I don’t need to turn OSK on and off every time.
