When I create a graphic slice, and type a name for it it, if I then hit the Tab key after entering the name, Dorico crashes. It’s consistent. (I’m using Dorico 6.1.0.13 with Mac OS 15.7. But the same thing has happened with OS 14)
If you can supply a Diagnostic Report (from the Help menu), that would help the team to identify the cause and fix it.
Ah: I can reproduce this with 2 Slices, but not with 1.
I have submitted the automatic “Crash Report” each time it happens. Is the Diagnostic Report different?
Yes, the crash reports are anonymized and used as general data about Dorico performance. If you want help with a specific issue, please do Help > Create Diagnostic Report after a crash (I mean, after restarting after a crash). This will produce a zip file on your desktop that you can upload here.
Good to know, I’ll do it next chance.
Are you using any “unusual” characters in the slice names?
Thanks for the question. Sometimes I’ll use a comma or a hyphen. It didn’t occur to me that a non-alphanumeric character could be an issue. Another item to test…
A hyphen should be okay, but a comma is doubtful.
A comma isn’t a forbidden character on either Windows or Mac file systems.
I can generate the crash just with alphanumerics, so that isn’t the issue.
I can reproduce the crash here - we’ll take a look, thanks.
FWIW, I’m almost certain I’ve had slice names using characters allowed in Mac OS balked at within Dorico. I’d have to try it out again, but things like em-dashes, for instance.
That said, it never crashed the app in previous versions, and it sounds like @Richard_Lanyon is on it.
