The handles of ‘slash repeat regions,’ when adjacent to other slash repeat regions, cannot be selected and then disappear. I made a video but i can not upload.
Yes, we know about this. It’s been reported before by other users, and it’s on our list of things to address in future. (It’s not a bug, because the handles are appearing where we are specifying that they should go, but it’s not helpful when you have two abutting slash regions, that’s for sure.)
Ok, thanks for the response: Now it really seems like I’m being argumentative on purpose. But how on earth can you say IT’S NOT A BUG? Of course, it’s a bug! I physically can’t grab the handle and move it. This perspective is absolutely indicative of the blindness with which you justify a series of absurd behaviors of this program.
It’s definitely something that needs to be improved, you will get no argument from me on that point.
@Riccardo_Di_paola:
I don’t know the reason for your tone of voice, but I would find it very appropriate to be a little more polite here in this forum.
It does indeed seem that way.
It’s incredible how you can discern my tone of voice from written text. How about we discuss this ability instead of scolding me as if I were a schoolboy, what do you say?
I assure you, that’s not the case. I’m always looking to be constructive, but I feel that the responses I often get are that the issues I encounter are not bugs but features. This is frustrating, particularly as I rely on this software professionally and have invested in it. When it slows down my work and challenges my patience, it seems as if I’m being faulted for not using it in a prescribed way. As a paying customer of the latest software version, I believe it’s reasonable for me to voice my concerns and seek effective solutions.
TRUE…
But for the benefit of all: if the end desired result is to change the duration or placement of the slash region that abuts another, selecting the handles is not necessary. Just click on the region and type option (alt)-arrow to move the region, or Shift-opt (alt.).-arrow to change duration.
I completely agree. All I ask is that you are similarly reasonable in your tone, and don’t in frustration write things like:
which seems unnecessarily unkind!
I apologize if I may have come across as rude, but many of the issues I encounter are things that, for a professional copyist working day-to-day with real musicians and real-world challenges, it’s hard to believe that no one has ever faced issues like, for example, rewriting a passage from 6/8 to 3/4. It’s these kinds of practical situations that make me interrogate about your musical background as musicians, not as software developer.
Your apology is accepted and appreciated.
I assure you that all the people who are working on Dorico every day are experienced and knowledgeable musicians, with a wealth of real world experience in many musical disciplines, as well as a solid academic background in the field. However, we don’t claim to know everything, and we take user feedback very seriously. Furthermore, we try not to make assumptions about the interests, skills or experience of our users.
Our greatest challenge is that Dorico is used by an enormously wide range of people in an equally wide range of use cases, and there are only a handful of us working on developing the software. There are thousands of items on our backlog and it is impossible for us to address even a fraction of them in any given cycle. This inevitably means that some things that have been on the backlog for a long time may yet still be some way off implementation.
We have to choose what we work on carefully, trying to balance the skills and expertise of the available team members against the universe of work items we want to ultimately address. But I promise you that, day in and day out, we are working hard to improve Dorico for all our users.
The point is, however, that this just needs to work (better), as Daniel has clearly stated.
What’s the point of having the handles in the first place?
It’s the same resizing mechanism as other objects. If you don’t have abutting regions, it works fine.
