Bug in my version? Incorrect display of musical notation

I have a small problem with the display of notes in the system.

In the bottom staff, the half note is displayed correctly, but in the top staff, Dorico splits the note value and writes it as a tied note. I do not want that.

My settings seem to be correct.

I have this problem in other places as well.

How do I tell Dorico not to automatically split the note values, but rather to leave them exactly as I enter them?

What bothers me is that sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. See the first image. The half note in the second system is displayed correctly.

Maybe one of you has an idea.

 Best regards

Andreas

Is your time signature Cut C or 2/2?
If so, select it, and in the properties panel, tick “Use common time note grouping”:

Also available as a Notation Option:

With your Options and Cut C, this is what I get, without and with the property:

Also for this one, check this setting in Notation options>Note Grouping>Time signatures with Half Bars:

With otherwise factory Notation options, that gives me this:

When this is set to Split at the half-bar, I get what you show in the OP.

Edit: you already have that, sorry. I got confused by the German descriptions  @charles_piano is probably right here.

Everything is set up!

That was it!

Now it’s correct!
He has indeed split up all the *alla breve* eighth-note beams, but I can change that back manually.

But why does Dorico handle it so differently depending on whether a half-bar begins with two eighth notes or a quarter note?

Thank you very much for taking care of this.

If you mean it now looks like this:

you can choose this Notation Option (under beam grouping):

That’s right; I had set all of that up, too! The display is correct for eighth-note chains as well.

That is correct.

But it automatically splits up the more complex ones.

Then I have to put these back together by hand.

The settings are the same everywhere. There are no time signature changes in between, either.

I see. Indeed, I don’t think there’s a Notation Option to beam together 8th-16th-16th-8th-8th in 4/4. Or I just didn’t find it!

No, there is not. In contemporary practice you shouldn’t really allow it in 2/2 either but it’s somewhat of a grey area.
