Hey PG,

there`s a bug in WL 7.2.1.

I have set and named all markers needed in the Montage.
The whole Production has 136 (!!) Markers.

![](https://dl.dropbox.com/u/31625788/WL7_Audiomontage.jpg)

Adding the Files for CD-Burning shows me a lot of marker names empty.

![](https://dl.dropbox.com/u/31625788/WL7_einfache-Audio-CD.jpg)

Is there a work around? I really need your help here as I need to deliver the production urgently.

Thanx,
Stanley

When I play the CD I just see “Titlenumber 1”, “Titlenumber 2” etc. in WindowsMediaPlayer.
Marker-Type: “Übergang von CD Titeln”.

Why`s that ?? I named all the markers…

Did you define CD-Text? And what do you mean with “Adding the Files for CD-Burning”? Best thing to check the final audio CD with is the CD Wizard.

EDIT: I see you use Basic Audio CD (Einfache CD) - and it looks like there are some CD End markers missing. BTW, burning CD-text is only possible from burning from the audio montage. And Windows Media Player cannot read CD-text!! You have to check somewhere else (importing back into WL, or using a hardware player that can show it).

In the montage, you should have the CD tab open, and then use the red disk symbol. There you can also use the CD Text symbol to enter or edit the CD Text for the CD, and the ‘check CD’/spectacles symbol to check if all markers are present and correct.

The markers look like track splices. Are you sure Red Book supports more than 99 tracks?

How do I add multiple Montages to burn them on one disk?

The production I am working on consists of 8 Chapters, each one a seperate Montage.
Chapter 1-4 need to go on Disk1, the rest on Disk2

How do I get WL (CD-Wizard) to transfer my marker names on the left to the CD Tile?

![](https://dl.dropbox.com/u/31625788/Montage_Marker.jpg)

Thank you.

One of the quickest ways to ‘add clips from another montage’ is simply to:

- make sure the markers in the source montage are attached to the clips (so they are properly transferred)

- select and copy the clips from the source montage

- paste at the required place in the destination montage.

Others may have more elegant solutions.

Use the CD Text dialogue from the CD Tab to create marker names.

You can use the ? function in the CD Tab to ensure that the CD is in spec … which I’m a little concerned about since I think you’ve suggested that a single disk is more than 99 tracks.

Good luck with this project.

Two possible ways (that I can think of):

1. Burn each separate montage to the same CD. Make sure you burn in separate sessions and only ‘close’ the burnt CD with the last session. I wouldn’t recommend this, since it may not comply for duplication.
2. Copy everything from the 4 montages to a new montage, like Rat suggested. Make sure markers are locked to clips, and ‘check CD’ separately, or even better, use the Wizard to get markers in the right (CD frame) positions.

- Whichever way you use, an audio CD is limited to 99 tracks, like mentioned before. WL won’t burn it anyway, so you’ll be warned.

If I remember correctly, this is done in the CD Text dialog. Or it was a feature request not yet implemented… 😕

I`ll go this way. There are two issues I stumbled across.

1. Thers`s no function like “lock all markers to Montage” ?!?
Do I really have to do this by hand for each and every marker?

2. My marker names are not transfered to CD Text dialog?
The naming of the markers is totally cryptic (like: clip 07 bla bla).
Having to change this by hand for each and every marker is

3. a BIG source for mistakes especcially with 136 markers. 👿

4. A real PITA

> Whichever way you use, an audio CD is limited to 99 tracks, like mentioned before. WL won’t burn it anyway, so you’ll be warned.

ok, this is not a problem as I have around 80 markers on CD1, the rest of the markers go to CD2

I couldn`t find anything in that direction. 😢

There can’t be, since that could mean “lock markers to timeline”, which is not what you want. I’m not sure if you can do this by selecting all markers, but they need to be locked to “selected clip” or some such term.

Understood.

Unfortunately this is not possible.

It would be nice if PG would chime back in on this topic. ❗

I would render each montage to an audio file. Then I would add all the files in a new montage, to burn this.
Now, if each of you montage is not too complex, you could built a single bug montage, and put CD markers around each project.

Currently, markers must be locked one by one. I agree this should be improved.

PG, how do I get the 136 marker-names transfered **automatically**?? ❓

</div>

> how do I get the 136 marker-names transfered automatically??

Well, semi-automatically, you could do this:

 ![2012-06-23_05-55-39.png](https://europe1.discourse-cdn.com/steinberg/original/3X/9/2/9238791dbb5805d8b48fd4751a14d918bf63ca6d.png)
That is, render all your tracks as a separate audio file. The file names will be the CD track marker names.
Then create an empty montage, and add all your files in one operation.
Then use the CD Wizard to recreate your markers (markers will inherit the clip names, hence your past marker names).

I don’t know the details of your project, but this procedure could be useful.

</div>

I don`t really understand why the marker-names / track-splices-names are not transfered when writing a CD.
For me this would be completely basic and essential. 😲

Well PG, I guess you might have realized that the whole procedure is far from ideal.
Will there be a fix any time soon?

Do you mean CD-Text imbedded when writing to the Audio CD
or ITunes, FreeDB, Gracenote, CDDB database info on the Internet !?
this info is up to the producer, record label or mastering tech to publish.

Actually, I don’t fully understand what’s your problem is.
But one advise: if you use the montage (and it’s good to do), then don’t use/create any Basic Audio CD, as you seem to do at the start of this thread. There is everything you need to burn any CD with montages.
You say you use multiple montages, and several of them must be put on a same CD. Then there is an alternative to my previous solution: create a new montage and do “Select All”, “Copy” and “Paste” into the target montage, for each of your source montages.
