I am currently working on a track using ad-libs generated by Omnivocal. Everything works fine, but I noticed something odd.
When I export using the Arranger Track while selecting the entire project, the mixdown works correctly. However, I also have a Radio Edit version of the track, which is much shorter and only uses certain slices of the full arrangement, including parts with Omnivocal.
When I mix down this shorter version, the plugin does not generate the vocal properly. Instead, it plays the sine wave notes, which is the same behavior you get when triggering it directly from a keyboard. My guess is that the DAW needs some kind of pre-buffering in order for Omnivocal to generate the vocals correctly, so the vocals only play properly during normal project playback, not when triggered by the keyboard on-the-fly.
I was able to work around the issue by freezing the Omnivocal channel, so the vocals were rendered in place. That solved the problem. Still, this clearly looks like a bug, so I am posting it here in case anyone else runs into the same issue and to hopefully bring it to Steinberg’s attention.
Cheers!
Adding: Just found out also that in the same channel as Omnivocal is, I have some muted events with MIDI notes, and the mixdown is ignoring the fact they’re muted and does play the sine wave notes (because probably they were ignored by the Freeze process I mentioned I did above). Really messy.
