As stated in the title. This happens 100% of the time (newest macOS, Sonoma I think? I’m new to Macs). Cubase suggests this shouldn’t work by showing a grey arrow instead of a green one, but it still allows it an crashes in the process.
Cubase 14 on Win 10. I dragged Padshop onto a Drum Track and while it didn’t crash it did open the Padshop GUI which I could play via the VSTi’s keyboard and sound came out of the Drum Track. Once I closed the GUI there was no way to open it again outside reloading the VSTi.
On the PC side, without the crashing, it’s kind of an interesting hack.

On macOS, when I dragged in Padshop it worked indeed, but when I tried to invoke the plugin by a keyboard shortcut that I’m using it crashed, too.
