BUG: Sample Editor in window - Disappearing DOP edits

Hello,

so I open up the Sample Editor in a separate window and apply some processes to certain areas of my clip using the Range Selection tool and Direct Offline Processing. So far so good. But as soon as I click somewhere else within the clip, all of the applied processes in the Direct Offline Processing window disappear. I then need to select any area of my clip for the processes to re-appear again.

DOP Sample Editor seperate window

Nuendo seems to think I de-selected the entire clip, which is not the case. As long as the Sample Editor is open the clip remains selected. It works totally fine when opening the Sample Editor in the Lower Zone.

DOP Sample Editor Lower Zone

So this is a bug when working with the Sample Editor in a separate window. Please fix this, as it is super annoying and really crippling the workflow.

That is why you do not select anything with that click.

But the focus is on the sample editor window. Nothing selected in there, no DOP.

This is not a bug, it is a workflow misunderstanding.

Sorry, but that does not make any sense to me. As long as the Sample Editor is open, the corresponding Clip remains selected on the timeline and therefore all of the applied processes of that clip should be visible in the DOP, no matter if a range is selected or not. You can clearly see the clip being selected on the timeline while the Sample Editor is open at the top of my first GIF.

Besides, it is working as expected with the Lower Zone. There should be no workflow difference if one prefers to work with the Sample Editor in a separate window. The preference to decide where to open the Editor window (Window vs Lower Zone) is a visual preference after all and should NOT influence workflow and behaviour.

Lower zone editor is not a dedicated window.

Again, the editor window is getting the focus and therefor the DOP window shows the data of the editor, not the data of the project window.

Well, then why does selecting a range in the editor window bring up the DOP processes of that clip? What has changed? What is the difference? According to your logic, the editor window is still in focus and therefore no processes should be visible at all at any time, as the editor is always getting the focus and not the clip.

??? What do you mean?

You said, that when the focus is on the sample editor window, no clips are selected and therefore no processes appear in the DOP window.

That’s what I have trouble understanding. The sample editor window is always in focus while having it open and editing a clip. So why is there a difference between having a range selected (= DOP window shows processes) and not having a range selected (= DOP window empty)?

Nothing selected, nothing to show.

This does again not make sense to me. As you can see at the top of my first GIF, the clip currently opened in the editor window remains selected at all times while the editor window is open. So the focus is on the editor window, which has opened a clip, that is currently selected on the timeline. So why are the processes applied to this clip not showing up in the DOP window?

The clip IS selected on the timeline and OPENED in an editor, show please show me the corresponding processes!

I’m stumped. Giving up on this…
