Bug: Tabs in file groups "jump" to random places

There appears to be a strange bug in WL 11: When using file groups, clicking on the tab for a file very often causes the tabs to “jump” to a random location.

For example, for files in order in a file group:

  • file 1
  • file 2
  • file 3
  • file 4
  • file 5

… clicking on, say, file 2 will suddenly cause it to switch places with another file:

  • file 1
  • file 5
  • file 3
  • file 4
  • file 2

There seems to be no rhyme or reason behind the “jumping”—it appears to be entirely random. Sometimes clicking on a tab doesn’t trigger jumping. Needless to say, it’s driving me mad while trying to work with files that need to be kept in order.

I checked the settings to see if this is one of those “It’s not a bug, it’s a feature” things, but nothing turned up.

FWIW, my system is running macOS 12.1.

Yep, it happens to me too and has been reported. There is one other mouse anomaly that happens in macOS 12 that isn’t happening in Big Sur.

I hope these things can be improved sooner than later.

This is the same with Catalina. Random jumps of tabs.

Hi!

Are the files named like numbers and in order?
Why I’m asking is when just random names and clicking
on files randomly I can’t trigger this here.

Yes, the files are take numbers automatically created when recording, so they’re in order: T91, T92, T93, etc.
