when an automation track is opened, nudging skips a lane for no reason
this bug was present forever and has never been addressed
It’s hard to tell what specifically is happening from the video (since it’s not showing track headers and lane status), but one general behavior I’ve seen with Cubase’s lanes when copying or moving a clip from one track to another track is that Cubase puts the clip in the same lane on the destination track as it occupied on the source track.
To use an example: Let’s say the destination track has only 3 lanes. Now you drag a clip that is on lane 10 of the source track to that destination track. The destination track will now also have 10 lanes (or is it 11?) because the dragged clip will be in lane 10 on that track. You can always do a cleanup lanes operation to consolidate things afterward, but the dragging preserves lane assignments.
I think it’s the fact that two events are moved simultaneously, and they’re moved the same amount of “lanes” or tracks and that the presence of the automation lane gives the wrong outcome for the bottom event.
