BUG: Unreliable Controller Ramps in MIDI Parts

There’s a problem when using CC nodes, set to Ramp/Curve in the Key Editor.

The controller automation shape changes depending on whether two adjacent MIDI parts are separate or combined.

The first example shows two separate parts, each with one CC1 node set to Ramp/Curve. The result is two constant CC levels.

When both MIDI parts are combined, the result is one ramp followed by a constant value.

Now, if you try to split the combined part at bar 2, the automation will change again to two constant levels from the first example.

I understand why it works this way, but it makes Ramp nodes unpredictable, as their behavior depends on whether the parts are split or merged.
It would be great if Cubase could automatically insert additional nodes, preserving the original shape of automation.

Are you on Cubase 14.0.20?
For me it works as per your request.

EDIT: Okay, I see, you have to cut directly on the position of the event.

Hi,

Where exactly is the Modulation value? Could we see its position in the Info Line? Where exactly do you Split? Could we see the position?

The first modulation node is at 1.1.1.0, the second at 2.1.1.0, splitting at 2.1.1.0.
Nuendo 14.0.20 and Cubase 14.0.20 on Mac.

Martin,
if “Position of cut” == “Position of event” then ouch

Yes.
However, for joining MIDI parts it happens at any position. The next node doesn’t have to be at the beginning of the second part.
