Bug with lyrics

Hi guys,

There’s still a bug with lyrics since several versions (I’m using actually 3.0.31.160.

When I delete lyrics, create new one etc for a same song, each time I load the project, all the lyrics, even the deleted ones, are always loaded:

In case of MIDI there is a restriction (also reported as bug) - if you delete the last event in the block/part, it isn’t saved i.e. the file that contains the media cannot be zero length.

Workaround - don’t delete the last event (in lyrics - the last row), but edit it. If it’s a bug and replicable, they will fix it.

Hello!

I have similar problems:
Copy - for example - a refrain and paste it on another place for saving time.
The pasted lyrics on a totaly wrong position.

Donn’t know wich version in the past works correct. But i used it often without any troubles until now.

This workaround does not work here with last version 3.0.34. Each time I load the project, everything is doubled :

Is this a new track or did you rework one with this bug?

This is an old one.

I’m trying to delete it and create a new one.

It is the same with a new track. I create a new lyrics track. I put 2 texts. I close VSTL. I load the same project. My 2 texts have been doubled:

I would like to notice that I see that bug because for specifics songs, I’m using the lyrics screen as a note screen. I need to see the texts in fixed, with no scroll.

For that, I put the zoom cursor to the extrem left. Also, I have a “end marker” at 10s to automatically stop the song. So all the texts I write are after the end marker and also at very far far in bars.

I tried to reproduce your issue with a new project. I cannot reproduce it. Even with deleting the last event, this did not occur. I’m running the last version (3.0.34) on mac.

VST Live version 2.2.114 Windows 11 25H2, I don’t have this.

What’s your text doing at beat 2049.1, 6145.1? Are you saying your song is really that long? I understand the loop hasn’t been fixed yet and its length tends to infinity.

But before you practice writing text, you should at least pay attention to where it is written.

Hi @sergeantt67 , you did not see this message where I explain how I can reproduce the bug

In my understanding, the ability to write lyrics should only be possible within the boundaries of a part or marker, and beyond these boundaries, writing anything at all shouldn’t be possible, because that’s nonsense. Then such topics won’t arise

Why don’t use the “Notes”-module. Because that one is designed for your use-case. There is no need to set time-markers. You can, but it is not necessary.

Just because I have only one screen for lyrics and sometime, I use this screen to put text for the presenter. And I cannot automatically change the lyrics module to Notes modules on the same screen.

You can automate this with a MIDI track.

Setup your actions to a virtual midi port

and add a MIDI track with output to this virtual MIDI port

You cannot say that this is bug while you use VST Live in inappropriate way.
Static text goes to Notes (you can scroll them using timecode stamp and buttons (actions)), but scrolling text goes to Lyrics and you cannot stop it. Lyrics are for singer, but notes - for engineer or presenter in your case.
And this is fine.
If you cannot add second display, use multiple windows of VST Live in single display. Unmaximize main window, open notes and or lyrics in their windows and organize them so everyone on your stage is happy. Still unhappy? Add second display.
