Well here’s an interesting one! YSUSB driver gives glitches, built in Steinberg driver doesn’t.
I have been using ur22mk2 for at least 8 years (windows 10 home) on my old i7 and never had any issues at all. Got a new PC, a fast AMD windows 11 pro, installed the latest Steinberg driver and firmware, and I’ve been getting glitches recording audio (only recording not playback). Switched to the Steinberg built in driver and it seems to have solved it.
Make sure all mainboard drivers are up-to-date, Windows own USB drivers are not sufficient for low latency in many cases.
Steinberg’s ASIO driver is made for safe connection, not for very low latency.
But if its performance is good enough and you don’t need special functionality, stay with it.
thank you for the reply. I think I have now actually solved it.
Went into task manager < devices < audiodg and right click for set priority and set it to high; then right click < set affinity < deselected “all processors” and selected CPU2 only (an even number thread not an odd number or zero)
Seems to be working so I went back to YSUSB driver and no glitching in 60 minutes recorded audio!! Apparently with the multi core thing, windows spreads the information around these which can cause drop outs.
I found a youtube video explaining this: I’d tried everything for days until I found this.

Audiodg is only relevant for system audio.
It has no influence on the ASIO driver performance.
The Steinberg built in ASIO driver uses the native Windows driver too.
Your driver and the firmware for the UR is really up-to-date?
oh ok. I did a few other things too, so may be that fixed it. It’s definitely fixed, no more glitches in 2 hours recording audio as a test. I turned off everything under universal bus controller to NEVER where I could. I had only done roothub controllers before that.
Drivers and firmware definitely up to date.
Still a mystery perhaps. I was suspecting it’s something to do with this multicore business. My single core thread speed is pretty good.
Solved. Problem seemed to be somewhere in the DAW compatibility. I was actually using Reaper with the Steinberg interface. Downloaded my old Cubase and it’s all good, smooth reliable recording!
So there’s obviously some problem there with Reaper and Windows 11. I used Reaper with windows 10 and UR22mk2 for 7 years on an i7 laptop and it was rock solid.
So, some good information for someone who may experience the same enduring glitches. Switch to Cubase with your ur22 and try that. I had done everything I could find to try. All of the cores were all running super low. The last thing to examine was BIOS as you suggested.
But, I will try that LatencyMon, and see what it says. But I’m fine to stick with Cubase it is a great DAW of course.
