Bypass Playback Command

Hi everyone,

Is there a way to bypass playback for note input / editing? I often find myself turning on and off the main volume control switching between audio applications. Having a shortcut to turn-off the playback would be helpful.

Best wishes,

Matouš

Why? What’s the problem when you use other apps?

Can you just mute the main output slider in the mixer? Or is that what you’re already doing?

In Preferences > Note Input and Editing, under “Auditioning” you can turn off “Play notes during note input and selection”. I have this off most of the time, but sometimes I use it. Unfortunately there isn’t a way to assign a shortcut to this, or script the change, but it’s pretty easy to get to in Preferences.

Thank you for the tips @benwiggy and @Mark_Johnson ! The solution with muting the master fader works. It tends to take a while to process with larger projects but does the trick. Setting the Auditioning preferences helps too, though it doesn’t take into account note input from a MIDI keyboard.
