Bypassing Grouping and Linking Dynamics Entirely (as a preference choice)

I know how to Unlink and Ungroup dynamics. My search queries pointed me to bypassing grouping dynamics (and slurs) when pasting.

But I’d like to disable these two features from the outset. I only want to do either by choice. I can’t find a way to completely disable (or bypass) linking and grouping entirely.

To be clear, I never want Dorico to group and link my dynamics together.

Is this an option?

Thanks in advance.

I assume you’re talking about the option in Preferences > Note Input and Editing. This actually refers to linking (vertical), not grouping (horizontal) – and I believe it actually prevents all automatic linking of these items, not just during pasting. I have the option unticked, and whenever I create dynamics across multiple staves, they are not linked.

I don’t believe there’s an option to prevent grouping, but I could be wrong.

(Grouping is what causes dynamics to automatically align as you input them, so personally I wouldn’t want to turn that off. But I do have a shortcut key assigned to ungroup dynamics, in case I need to in a particular case.)

Yeah, I’m all for grouping dynamics, but with my workflow I’d like to disable all linking and grouping dynamics until the last step during proofreading. Grouping is great until you want to adjust that one hairpin in the middling of grouped dynamics. If you adjust it, everything before and after moves (and if it’s linked to other instruments, they all then move).

Linking and grouping is great, but having them globally disabled as an option would also be great.
