The title says it all. To reproduce, send NPRN from an external synth. Midi CC6 or CC38 is not being recorded.
This works just fine in Cubase12.
I don’t have an external midi controller that sends NRPN, but maybe I can help with troubleshooting:
- What device is it?
- Set up a regular midi track (as opposed to an Intrument Track). and open a MIDI Monitor insert. What does it display when you operate the control?
Have you ruled out any midi routing or midi filters as the issue? (seems obvious, but for troubleshooting, a necessary step)

I’m sending from a Moog Subsequent 37. I posted on a different forum to check if others were having the same issue, and I had it confirmed from another Moog Subsequent 25 user.
To isolate the issue, I recorded the exact same NRPN data (which basically is just four midi CCs at once) from the same midi controller in both C12 and C13 at the same time, and the results differ as you can see from the pictures in the first post; it is working as expected in C12, so I think it’s fair to say that something must have happened at Steinberg’s end.
What I haven’t investigated is if this issue is specific to Moog controllers (as I have it confirmed from two different synth models), so if anyone has a synth that can send NRPN, it would be fantastic if someone could try to replicate the issue in C13.
