C14 Insert FX Automation odd behaviour

Hello guys,

I just noticed an odd behavior while changing a parameter into an Insert FX (Replika XT delay) which had bypass automation on it.

It’s a bypass so first the bypass is OFF and in a certain moment it goes ON. After I just change swith the Standard parameter for the Ping Pong parameter in the Replika XT, when the bypass automation is supposed to be ON, but instead of, the track become then inaudible at that moment ??

Am I missing some basics here ? Or there is some bug ?

Hi, @Vendimion

Not sure what you mean by this. I guess that, while playing back the track, you are changing the Mix ratio on the fly in Replika, though.

So, and FWIW, I have tried to reproduce this with the bundled PingpongDelay plug-in and a quick handclap recording. While playing back the whole stuff (with automation set to Read, of course), I tried to change the Mix ratio in the plug-in UI : no audio signal interruption of any kind.

EDIT : I did initially the test with 15.0.6, but I get the same behavior from Cubase with 14.0.41.

So it’s a bug then ? Pretty annoying…

By the meantime I have red several other odd behavior/bugs related with automation things on the forum.

Thanks @cubic13 for having tried and confirmed!

The good think is that it seems they have fixed this in C15

I think that you missed the last “EDIT” line of my post…

Oooh I get it now. I thought you meant you had the same behaviour as me…

You tried with buit-in insert fx, may be it is related with Replika XT ? I will try to load the project in C15 and see if it does the same

Not exactly sure what your issues is, but after a quick test with Replika I would advice against using bypass automation because the bypass button does not work click-free i Replika. Bypass in general can be problematic to automate as many plugins don’t implement a click-free bypass function, so in general it is better to automate the mix control…

I guess you are right.

It seems that automation with bypass is clunky. It works untill you set your insert fx first then you put the bypass automation. But if you want to change a parameter in the inserted fx after having put the automation, then it’s messy…

Although I haven’t noticed the same odd behaviour with other insert fx, like for instance with Shaperbox 3, I will prioritize automation Mix control from now as you said

I reproduced the same bug with C15
