C15/16 Feature Requests (MIDI Sends, Insert Shortcuts, Render in place for Groups/FX)

Hoping that some of these features are added in the next update or so;

  1. Unlimited MIDI Sends. Being limited to 4 (5 including the MIDI track output) is rather limiting for creating large midi drum kits with elements spanning across various libraries/samplers from one midi track. Using the IAC Driver is a band-aid solution that comes with it’s own issues of latency. Perhaps being able to create internal MIDI Busses - to be assigned to various inputs of instrument tracks could be an elegant solution? Sending MIDI data is incredibly lightweight, hopefully the current limitation of 4 sends is revised.
  2. Allow for assigning keyboard shortcuts to plugins, allowing for insertion on the next available slot on the selected track. We can already do so for direct offline processing, why not for real-time? Additionally a key command to open the plugin search browser to insert a plugin at the next available slot would be great too!
  3. Render in place for Group/FX tracks. The ability is already there under the hood via the Multi Mixdown page, workflow wise it’s a little jarring that this cannot be done.
  4. Ability to disable/turn group/fx tracks offline.
  5. Rack Instruments. These are essentially held hostage in the project you create one in, with no straight-forward or simple way to save/import into another session.
  6. Mix Console horizontal scroll. Shift + Mousewheel is a universal horizontal scroll combination, yet horizontal scrolling only works if the mouse is over the fader area with regular mouse wheel. Not sure why this is the case but there’s room for improvement. Using a dedicated horizontal scroll wheel (MX Master 4) does not work either.
  7. Solo/mute shortcut inconsistencies. In the arrange window if multiple tracks are selected and the solo/mute key command is pressed all selected tracks are solo/muted (great!), doing the same in the mix console only solos/mutes one of the multiple tracks.
  8. Click while Playing. A dedicated shortcut + indicator for this would be great, during long tracking sessions the constant turning the metronome on/off, diving into the menu to turn click while playing on/off becomes tedious. Currently this is only accessible via the Generic Remote (soon to be depreciated). Bonus would be to allow for recalling metronome patterns via keyboard shortcut.
  9. Allow users to remap the F1 key. Left hand keyboard realestate is precious, having the key hard-coded to the Help function is unnecessary.
  10. Please don’t kill off the ‘Generic Remote’ it has many functions that are not available in the MIDI Remote…
