C15 score editor problems

I have been on cubase since 1993, but never encountered as many problems, moving from C13 to C15.

I’m a musician (as we all are of course) and my preferred editor is the score editor. But….

  • selection not properly shown in score editor. notes remain hilited, where they are not selected, and the actually selected notes are not hilited

  • base guitar instruments don’t retain their instrument settings but revert to Singer-Bass. I now use a generic bass-staff, and use the octave up notation bass cleff, but.. see the next point.

  • notation settings in score are not remembered (settings for cautionary accidentals, note grouping and respect octave indicator). I have to set them every time again.

  • I really miss copying notes with the mouse in score editor (from any staff to any staff)

  • there is no visual feedback anymore in the score editor of notes being muted, they used to be greyed out, now I can’t tell them from ‘unmuted’ notes

  • drums in score editor should be able to show real lenght in stead of quantised note lengths, like other instruments. exporting wil export the real note lengths but now I

Possibly I am missing things, but have experimented a lot by now. A week now trying to come to grips with this it’s a standstill in my inspiration and tend to go back to C13.

C15 on Mac OS Sequoia.

Hello Michel

Whilst you wait for responses, some background info as to what has occurred with the Score Editor’s development since C14 and how things may move forward… (and true to their word, things are steadily progressing.!)

Introducing the new Dorico-powered Score Editor in Cubase 14 – Dorico

On a more general note, where possible, it’s recommended to provide a small (dummy) project that displays the issues/concerns seen and/or relevant screenshots, or even a small video (screencast) of the behaviour - so others here can offer more tailored advice/solutions, or confirmation.!

(As such, it can be problematic reporting a number of differing issues in the one same topic - discussion back and forth can get difficult to follow or convoluted very quickly, as the thread grows. Often more productive and focused keeping to one post per issue.! Anyway, its done now; lets see how things progress…).

I see you are on C15 and Mac OS Sequoia; but what are the hardware/computer specs.?

Good luck.!

PS:-

…but now I - ??? Did you edit too quick perhaps.?

sorry …

drums shown in score:

exporting will export the real note lengths but now I ….. can’t see in the score that the note lengths aren’t right

I know I should posting only on one subject at a time, but I would have to start 4 or 5 threads…

thanks for your reaction, but I’m not impressed with this score editor.

I’ll post screenshots later.

Ok… Understood. Sorry I’m no help myself right now…

Positively though, your posts may at least be helping keep the devs aware of areas for ‘improvement’. They do know there’s more to do.! And that it will take time. (C13 Score Editor is the result of 30+ years of development effort.!)

But I know that’s not what you want/need to read right now.

well , the man in the video you shared is very happy and positive….me not. His score doesn’t look right at all, but he keeps on being happy with it.

thanks for your reply!
