C6 Elements (64 Bit) and ReWire

Hi,

I´m using Cubase 6 Elements 64 Bit and want to rewire it with FLS 10.

according to the comparsion sheet site:
http://www.steinberg.net/en/products/cubase/specs_downloads/feature_comparison.html#c136391

… ReWire only works with the 32 bit version of Cubase 6 Elements, right?

So i need to upgrade to Cubase 6 Artist or Cubase 6 in order to run ReWire in 64 Bit?

Thanks,

Marvn

No, Cubase Elements 6.0.6 introduced the 64 Bit Rewire support IIRC.

Thanks for the quick response

However, i’m not able to get FLS 10 rewired to cubase.

  1. I first open FLS 10 - it’s registered as ReWire Client
  2. Then I open Cubase 6 Elements 64 Bit (6.0.7 to be precise)
  3. I start a new project, go to devices
  4. FLS 10 doesnt show up

what’'s wrong? hope i’m doing everything correct.

bump.

  • checked fl studio is definately installed as a rewire client. opened a rewired channel and loaded fl studio rewired inside fl studio.

  • i did a repair of cubase 6.0.7 but it still does not show fl studio as a rewire client.

  • i also tried messing with the rewire.dll issue several users posted a while ago

http://www.gearslutz.com/board/music-computers/674793-cubase-6-reason-6-a.html

But i’m not really sure how cubase handles rewire, where the rewire.dll needs to be (i have one in fl studio folder, one in system32 folder of windows and one in \program files\common files\propellerhead software\ReWire) and which version of the rewire.dll cubase needs.

And still …

The 6.0.6 maintenance update introduces the following
improvements:
 Rewire x64 support
Cubase now connects to ReWire client applications in a
pure 64-bit environment under Windows and Mac OS X.
(AI / Elements only)

i’m confused …

I’ll admit, I have never tried anything like this, but there are several others here that will be willing to help.

I don’t normally reply to say I don’t know something, but I thought I would help you bump it anyway. Does it operate correctly when your system runs Cubase 32 bit?

i did the following

  • completly deinstalled cubase elements 6.0.7 64 bit
  • plain cubase 6 elements 32 bit installation
  • updated to 6.0.6 - FL Studio 10 ReWire is visible
  • updated to 6.0.7 - FL Studio 10 ReWire is visible
  • deinstalled cubase 6.0.7 32 bit

after that:

  • installed cubase 6 elements 64bit
  • updated to cubase 6.0.6 64 bit - same scenario like yesterday - FL Studio 10 ReWire is NOT visible.

It seems that Steinberg made a wrong update and the comparsion sheet is still correct …

but in the update log pdf it’s clearly written

The 6.0.6 maintenance update introduces the following
improvements:
 Rewire x64 support
Cubase now connects to ReWire client applications in a
pure 64-bit environment under Windows and Mac OS X.
(AI / Elements only)

Anyone with the same problem/confusion?

I’m using Windows 7 Pro 64bit SP1, if that helps …

Unless I read image-line’s forums wrong,
FL Studio 10 is really only a 32 bit program and no 64 bit rewire is available.
