C6 x64 often hangs on shutdown

Been using C6 x64 for a couple of days and already I have had 3-4 failed shutdowns. When it fails to shutdown, it is almost impossible to kill it from task manager as well. I downloaded the SysInternals PSKill, which will “kill it”.

I have Win 7 x64 Ultimate, all updates applied both to windows and cubase.

First I blamed it on my USB midi keyboard, but it doesn’t matter whatever the midi keyboard is present or not, C6 may hang on shutdown anyway.

I don’t get any error codes - it just closes the project, then “hangs” (stops responding).

Any tips? Where should I start looking for the cause?

Never had this problem with C5 x86 (on same computer and windows configuration)

There was another post about this you may wish to check out http://www.steinberg.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=3291

So far I have only installed the 32bit, 64 bit will come a little later on. No issues like this in 32bit.

Thanks for the info! Seems like I’m not alone

I’ll try to get an accurate repro scenario for my installation.

in the other posts you’ll see also that it IS possible to kill cubase6.exe in taskmanager, you just need some patience: after a couple of minutes the process eventually disappears. In my experience it’s somewhere between 2 and 5 minutes.
