Just wondered if anyone had any idea. Done on Cubase several years ago but midi files got lost/corrupted - https://on.soundcloud.com/tF2YHvpcw6v8xnbV7
Many VSTi can reproduce these sounds, not to mention that during mixing the sounds can be altered with equalization, compression, saturation, various effects, dimensional location.
You will be very lucky if you manage to know all the VSTs used in this piece.
I always use Note Pad to detail the contents of the track. VST used, sound bank from which the preset used comes, preset(s) selected, modifications made to the preset. Any information I find relevant. Same thing for the audio tracks that I record. Here the date, the instrument, the microphone(s), type of pick used for guitars, which keyboard controller used, the key can influence the playing.
The writings remain. Memory is volatile and selective…
Good luck!
Thanks, that’s really good advice. It’s a friend’s composition but I think he lost all of it leaving only an audio mixdown. I do note a few things down in notepad, but I will use your tip there to be more thorough.
