Can Cubase emulate hardware looper functionality?

Hi there,

Is it possible to use Cubase so that it behaves in a similar way to a simple hardware looper? (like a TC Ditto looper pedal)

ie start recording on an audio track with loop enabled…and build up layered tracks? (I want to be able to hear the loop I just recorded when it cycles around)

Cheers,
Greg

Hi,

Cubase can Record in loop and create takes (Lanes).

For audio, only one lane is audible at the time. So you cannot here previously recorded lanes.

For MIDI multiple lanes can be played back, so you can here what you recorded already + the new data.

Thanks Martin

I feared that was the case…that’s the best I could get out of it.

Will have a look around for a software looper.

I wonder if a Macro or PLE could:

  1. Disarm Current track
  2. Select Next Track
  3. Arm Next Track

Each time a new cycle starts?

Hi,

But you have to trigger the Macro manually before every single take. This is not very useful.

In the case of Macro, I would recommend to Add a Mono (or Stereo) Track, as an 2nd step. Better to Add a new one, when you don’t know the count of needed takes beforehand.
