Can Dorico manage choral polyphony?

You’re correct here, I believe John, but I myself rarely write monophonic music like this.

I was just telling my choir to do this on Wednesday. “No snakes :snake: in the choir! Put that ‘S’ in front of the following syllable! not the end of this word!”

Ok - you’ve convinced me to give this a go. Question - for some reason when I press play in Dorico the notes are all sustained - have you come across this? Can’t see that I’ve set up EW especially wrongly…

AFAIK to currently use Symphonic Choirs and WordBuilder with Dorico, you need to use Play version 5 on Windows. However, Ulf has fixed a bug which prevented people from using Play version 6 or Opus with Dorico, and that fix should appear in Dorico 4 early next year.

Hmm. It depends. We were recently singing John Bennet’s “Weep O mine eyes and cease not”, and if it sounds like ‘See Snot’…

my point exactly!

Of course(!) it’s context dependent, but as a general rule, it is still valid, I think.
