Simple question…does Drum Machine use stereo samples as-is from Media Bay?
I have a licensed stereo sample from one of the many content sets i have, House - Kick_05_TL, that completely changes its sound when dragged to a pad in Drum Machine. I have looked at every setting, checked sample rates, etc, but given that the display of the sample in Drum Machine is displayed as if it were being down mixed from Stereo into mono, thus I’m surmising that the sample is in fact being downmixed to mono and creating an entirely different sound than “advertised” in Media Bay as well as Pool. It’s there as a stereo sample in both Pool and Media Bay, but as I said, it’s playing back downmixed.
what am i missing? what page in the manual should i be looking for?
turns out it was something control room was doing. turned off control room and assigned the busses under the output tab instead. sounded fine. turned control room back on, reassigned the busses as I had them, sounds fine. HOWEVER, midi routing from my MPD-218 was disrupted until i disconnected and reconnected the interfaces in the inspector. i dunno what happened, but this is how it happened multiple times:
Create empty project.
Add Drum Machine
Open media bay, drag House - Kick_05-TL to C1 drum machine pad
Trigger pad either by mouse click or midi device
sound has a “trailing” echo of sorts as if a the right and left channels were shifted opposite directions during a downmix(which should only ever happen intentionally). in comparison to Media bay playback.
The fifth and final time i recreated this was when I decided to turn off control room, reassign outputs, and then turn control room back on. I dunno if this is a bug or some temporary glitch, but there is no way i clicked something or left effects in the path. What i can say from experience screwing around with audio editors over the years, the sound was definitely akin to stereo channels being shifted opposite directions and then downmixed.
