Hello, I’m a new user; never used Dorico before. I’m running a Dorico 6 Elements trial. I can hear metronome during playback but no music. It doesn’t work with my own score, or with the scores that came with the installation. Steinberg Download Assistant says everything is installed.
Would anyone be able to help me figure out this problem?
I can help you, yes. Please create a new project from piano template and enter some arbitrary notes. Then choose the Dorico menu item Help > Create Diagnostic Report which will create a zip file on your desktop. That zip file please send to u dot stoermer at steinberg do de. From the contained logs and things I shall be able to give further advice. Thanks
Hi @philipd , thanks for the data.
You have not installed HALion Sonic and the HALion Sonic libraries, that’s why you are not hearing any music.
You have plenty of other VSTinstruments that Dorico can also use instead of HALion Sonic, but in that case you have to create your own playback templates or load plug-ins and sound patches by yourself.
For the out-of-the-box solution you need to download and install all the other packages that are listed in the Steinberg Download Assistant underneath the actual Dorico package.
You are confused now? In that case don’t hesitate to ask, we are here to help.
Hi @philipd , that is interesting.
In that case then at least do an Install again for the HALion Sonic 7.1.40 - Instrument package. But that would only fix the missing HALion Sonic issue.
The bigger problem is the missing sound contents. Simply doing an Install again on every of the sound packages will most likely not bring success. But healing the contents is a bit complicated and I propose we do that together in a remote screen sharing session. I’ll send you a private message via this board, please check.
Thank you Ulf, but it looks like further troubleshooting won’t be necessary; rebooting my computer seems to have fixed the issue. Thank you very much for your help!
